Bundle Up-

One of the best parts about winter is getting to wear warmer clothes. Don't take off the chunky knit sweater when you get home, or better yet put on some comfy pjs before thinking of turning up the heat

Let The Light In-

Open your blinds and curtain during the day to let in the sunlight and let your house naturally heat up a bit

Change Your Furnace Filters-

A dirty furnace filter makes your furnace work way harder than we need to and furnace filters can be a pretty inexpensive fix to the issue

Turn The Heat Down When You're Away-

If you aren't home for long periods of time, like when you're at work or out for a few hours with friends, turn your thermostat down. Turning it off for when you're gone and turning it back up when you come back can save you some money

Leave Vents Some Space-

If you have any furniture or belongings blocking heat vents, move them to the side so the heat that comes out can warm up the room with no interference

Close Up Any Drafts-

Drafty window or door? Fix them to fit correctly or add insulation in the gaps to block the wind coking in, or the heat going out

Buy A Space Heater-

Space heaters can be a good option for small spaces that may be more likely to get cold and can let you control heating up a room instead of turning on heat for the whole house

Start Cooking-

If you have an indoor fireplace, this is a good reason to turn it on. If not, turn on your oven! its a win-win, the heat of the oven can help warm up the space and you get to cook something delicious

(P.S) If you are looking at buying a new home always make sure to get the furnace thoroughly inspected to prevent hidden repair costs down the line

Prevent! Prevent! Prevent!

This might feel ironic considering our last newsletter was about preventing house fires but thats why we're here to remind you to do all this safely! Winter is arriving and we want to save some money while warming up but always make sure to do so while monitoring and taking precautions against house fires.
